Curriculum Overview
We are looking forward to the summer term where we will be preparing the children for their transition to Greasby Junior School and taking our learning outdoors (if the weather is kind to us.)
Literacy
Story - The King Who Banned the Dark ( Please do not share this story with the children until we have in class)
This half term we will be focusing on a persuasive letter and a recount.
We will be focusing on:
- A range of KS1 punctuation
- Persuasive language
- Familiarisation of structure and language
- Using subordinating and co-ordinating conjunctions
- Spelling rules
- Plan, write and edit
Read Write Inc
Children will attend daily phonics groups based on their assessment. Children who have come off the phonics programme will focus on spelling and different comprehension style questions.
Maths
In maths we will be reviewing the objectives we have covered so far this year and developing their reasoning and problem solving skills.
Topic
RE
Judaism
We are learning to understand how celebrating Passover and keeping Kashrut (food laws) help Jews show God they value their special relationship with Him.
Science
This half term the children will be learning about materials. Identifying a variety of everyday materials and discussing their basic properties, comparing the suitability and finding out how the shapes of solid objects can be changed by twisting, bending or squashing.
Art
This half term we will be comparing the art of different artists. Exploring colour, emotion, nature and storytelling through art.
PE
In PE, we are focusing on developing the children's gymnastics skills and learning about invasion games.
Music
Friendship
In this unit of work, the children will be focusing on friendship songs. The children will learn about singing and playing together in an ensemble.

Friday 23rd May - Our Sports Day in the afternoon (parents welcome)
Wednesday 18th June - Y2 to GJS for the morning
Friday 4th July - Year 2/3 concert at GJS in the afternoon (parents welcome)
